Mon Nov 18 13:51:14 UTC 2024: ## Bollywood Classic ‘Karan Arjun’ to Hit Theaters Again After 30 Years; Director Reveals Casting Secrets

**Mumbai, India –** Thirty years after its initial release, the iconic Bollywood film *Karan Arjun* is set for a theatrical re-release on November 22nd. Ahead of the film’s return, director Rakesh Roshan revealed surprising casting details in an interview with the Indian Express.

Roshan initially approached Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan for the lead roles, but both actors declined. Devgn’s reasons remain undisclosed, while Roshan stated that Khan wanted to play the role originally offered to Devgn, and vice versa, as they both sought to change their on-screen image. Roshan, however, was steadfast in his vision for the film.

Despite his initial rejection, Khan later approached Roshan, expressing a desire to collaborate despite his skepticism about the script. This was after Aamir Khan and Salman Khan had already been cast and subsequently left the project. Khan’s motivation stemmed from his gratitude to Roshan for giving him his first acting break in *King Uncle*.

The final piece of the puzzle was Kajol, recommended by Khan himself after praising her acting prowess to Roshan. The unconventional casting of two romantic heroes in action roles initially proved challenging, with distributors backing out due to doubts about the film’s potential success. However, Roshan’s conviction and the film’s eventual success proved them wrong. *Karan Arjun*, also starring Mamta Kulkarni and Rakhee Gulzar, became a box-office triumph upon its original release in January 1995. This re-release promises to offer a nostalgic trip down memory lane for fans.
