Mon Nov 18 05:00:15 UTC 2024: **Manhunt Launched for Husband After Woman Found Dead in Car Boot**
**London, November 18, 2024** – A major manhunt is underway for Pankaj Lamba, the Indian-origin husband of 24-year-old Harshita Brella, who was found murdered in the boot of a car in Ilford, east London. Northamptonshire Police, leading the investigation, believe Lamba killed his wife earlier this month in Northamptonshire and subsequently fled the country.
Over 60 detectives are investigating the case, pursuing numerous leads including house-to-house inquiries, property searches, CCTV footage, and ANPR checks. Chief Inspector Paul Cash stated that the investigation suggests Brella was murdered in Northamptonshire before her body was transported to Ilford.
The investigation began after a welfare check on Wednesday, November 13th, at Brella’s home in Corby, Northamptonshire. When officers received no answer, a missing person investigation was launched, leading to the discovery of her body in the early hours of Thursday, November 14th. A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday.
Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell expressed condolences to Brella’s family and described her death as tragic. Police believe the incident was targeted, although they are keeping an open mind and appealing for any information that may assist the investigation. They have reassured the public there is no wider risk. Extra patrols will be present in Corby for reassurance. A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior police contact with the victim. The Metropolitan Police confirmed receiving a call from Northamptonshire Police on the morning of November 14th, leading to the discovery of the body. The police are working to establish the full timeline of events connecting Brella’s disappearance from Corby and the discovery of her body in London.
