Mon Nov 18 08:23:01 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Chokes Under Hazardous Smog, GRAP Stage IV Activated
**New Delhi, November 18, 2024** – A thick blanket of smog has enveloped Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to activate Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The move comes after the air quality index (AQI) plummeted to “severe plus” levels, reaching 483 at 7 a.m. according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Stage IV of the GRAP, effective from 8 a.m. today, implements stringent pollution control measures. These include a ban on the entry of trucks into Delhi and a temporary halt to construction on public projects. Further restrictions are expected to be announced as the situation unfolds. The hazardous air quality poses significant health risks to residents.
