**Hyderabad, November 17, 2024** – Five students from the Government Medical College, Nalgonda, have been suspended following allegations of ragging. The incident, which involved senior students physically harassing first-year students in the boys’ hostel on November 11th, prompted an immediate investigation after a complaint was emailed to the college administration on November 12th.

The Anti-Ragging Committee, comprising faculty, law enforcement, and specialists, confirmed the allegations. Two 2020 batch students, Vasukula Manideep and N. Sharath Kumar, received six-month suspensions. B. Naresh received a one-month suspension, while first-year student Banoth Balraj was suspended for three months. A 2019 batch intern, Munigala Abhinav, also received a six-month suspension.

In response, the college has implemented stricter anti-ragging measures, including a new hostel duty roster and increased faculty supervision during evenings and nights. Further preventative measures include planned awareness campaigns in collaboration with local police. The college principal, Dr. N. Srivani, stated that the inquiry confirmed the allegations and the suspensions were a direct result.
