Sun Nov 17 16:15:25 UTC 2024: ## Jiribam MLA Frustrated by Lack of Government Support Amidst Violence

**Imphal, [Date]** – Jiribam MLA Ashab Uddin, a member of the Janata Dal (United) – a BJP ally at the national level – has voiced strong criticism of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s handling of the ongoing violence in Jiribam. Uddin claims he has been sidelined and denied any official role in addressing the crisis, despite his constituency being directly affected.

While other BJP leaders, including Minister L. Sushindro, MLA Th. Shanti, and BJP General Secretary K. Sharat, have been assigned duties related to the Jiribam situation, Uddin says he has received no official mandate from the Chief Minister. He stated that he is working independently to secure the release of abducted residents but lacks the authority to influence administrative actions effectively.

“I am here on my own initiative,” Uddin said, highlighting his frustration. “Without official power, my presence as an MLA is ineffective. Other administrative bodies do not listen to me unless I am officially assigned.” He described the situation as “tragic” and lamented the lack of government support in his efforts to help his constituents. The MLA stressed the difficulties he faces operating without any government backing in attempting to resolve the crisis.
