**Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu – November 18, 2024** – Over 1,500 participants, including 250 children with Type 1 diabetes, participated in the “Kid-a-thon 2024” walkathon at Coimbatore’s Race Course on Sunday. The event, organized by Rotary E-Club of Metro Dynamix and Idhayangal Charitable Trust, aimed to raise awareness and funds for children affected by juvenile diabetes. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan flagged off the walkathon.
Separately, over 214 individuals, including 117 children and 71 parents and caregivers from Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts, attended the Coimbatore Kinship Care Meet. This annual event, organized by Bala Mandir Kinship Care, supports over 800 families and 1,500 children who have lost one or both parents. The program, which expanded to western Tamil Nadu districts in January, provides partial school fees, online English and math courses, counseling for widowed mothers, and livelihood support.
In other news, the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) of Canara Bank will conduct a free 10-day training program in photo frame making, lamination, and screen printing, starting November 18th.
