Sun Nov 17 16:13:30 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Minister Kailash Gehlot Resigns from AAP, Citing Unfulfilled Promises
**New Delhi:** Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot has resigned from his ministerial post and party membership. In a letter to AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, Gehlot criticized the party for failing to deliver on its promises to the people. He accused the Kejriwal government of neglecting its responsibilities, citing the increased pollution of the Yamuna river under its rule and claiming the party wasted time fighting the central government instead of focusing on local issues. Gehlot also referred to Kejriwal’s residence as “Sheesh Mahal” (Palace of Mirrors).
Gehlot’s resignation has been accepted by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who attributed it to a BJP conspiracy. The resignation comes ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February next year, dealing a significant blow to the AAP. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has accused the BJP of employing a “washing machine” to induct AAP leaders into its ranks. The timing of the resignation is fueling speculation about further defections before the elections.
