**Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh –** The father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, retired Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Singh Patani, has filed a police complaint alleging he was defrauded of ₹25 lakh by a group of five individuals. The accused, identified as Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash from Juna Akhara, Preeti Garg, and an unidentified person, allegedly promised Mr. Patani a high-ranking position in a government commission in exchange for the money.
According to the FIR registered at Bareilly Kotwali police station, the accused, including a man falsely presented as an “officer on special duty,” exploited Mr. Patani’s trust, taking ₹5 lakh in cash and ₹20 lakh via bank transfers. When Mr. Patani, residing in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area, noticed no progress after three months and demanded his money back, he faced threats and aggressive behavior from the accused.
The police have launched an investigation and are actively pursuing the arrest of all five accused, vowing to take strict action against them for cheating, criminal intimidation, and extortion. The investigation is ongoing.
