**Chandigarh, November 20, 2024** – Chandigarh all-rounder Nikhil Kumar has been selected for the Indian Under-19 cricket team to compete in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Men’s Under 19 Asia Cup 2024. The tournament, featuring eight nations, kicks off November 29th in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Kumar, a Class 12 student at Saupin’s School, earned his place on the team based on strong recent performances. His impressive showing against the Australian Under-19 team, which included an unbeaten 55 runs in a thrilling two-wicket victory and a 61-run score in a Test match, played a significant role in his selection. Further bolstering his claim were his performances at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) camp in Ahmedabad, where he scored 124 runs and took nine wickets in the Inter-NCA One Day Cricket Tournament, and his commendable 236 runs in four matches during the UTCA domestic season.

India, an eight-time champion, is considered a strong contender and is placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Japan, and the UAE. Their campaign begins with a highly anticipated match against Pakistan. The team departs for the UAE on November 25th.
