CHENNAI, INDIA – Actress Nayanthara has publicly accused actor and producer Dhanush of exploiting a copyright dispute over a three-second video clip from their film *Naanum Rowdydhaan* (*Naenu Rowdyne* in Telugu) for personal revenge. The dispute stems from a Netflix documentary about Nayanthara’s life, “Nayana Beyond the Fairy Tale,” which includes the clip.
Dhanush issued a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD) from Nayanthara for copyright infringement. However, in a strongly worded statement released on social media, Nayanthara alleges that Dhanush’s actions are motivated by long-standing personal animosity and jealousy stemming from her success.
She claims Dhanush’s resentment goes back to 2016, around the time of the Filmfare Awards, fueled by her rising popularity after the film’s success. Nayanthara insists that the exorbitant demand for a mere three-second clip is excessive and unjustified, and accuses Dhanush of hypocrisy and a lack of conscience. She further suggests that the Tamil Nadu public will not tolerate his actions.
