Fri Nov 15 22:03:32 IST 2024: ## Conan O’Brien to Host 2025 Oscars

**Los Angeles, CA** – Veteran comedian Conan O’Brien will emcee the 97th Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Friday. The former late-night host will take the reins from Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the ceremony in 2023.

O’Brien, known for his witty humor and extensive experience in live television, will preside over the Oscars ceremony on March 2nd, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang praised O’Brien’s ability to connect with audiences and his “love of movies,” stating he is the perfect choice to “honor the spectacular films and filmmakers of this year.”

The choice follows a successful 2023 Oscars ceremony that saw a welcome boost in viewership, reaching nearly 20 million viewers. Executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan described O’Brien as “incredibly witty, charismatic and funny,” expressing confidence in his ability to maintain the ceremony’s momentum.

O’Brien, a five-time Emmy winner with credits including *The Tonight Show* and the podcast *Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend*, announced his hosting gig on social media with characteristic humor, quipping, “America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars.” This will be his first time hosting the Oscars. Kimmel, who previously hosted in 2017, 2018, and 2023, stepped down after successfully navigating the fallout from the infamous Will Smith slap incident in 2022.
