
Fri Nov 15 07:40:50 UTC 2024: ## Modi Unveils ₹6,640 Crore Development Projects in Bihar, Commemorates Birsa Munda’s Birth Anniversary
**Jamui, Bihar:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated development projects worth ₹6,640 crore in Bihar’s Jamui district, coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda, celebrated as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
The projects, aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihood generation in tribal regions, were unveiled by the Prime Minister at a special event. He also unveiled a commemorative coin and postal stamp in honour of Birsa Munda.
Modi virtually participated in the ‘Grih Pravesh’ of 11,000 houses built for tribal families under the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). He also launched 23 mobile medical units (MMUs) under PM-JANMAN and 30 additional MMUs under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) to enhance healthcare accessibility in remote tribal areas.
The Prime Minister inaugurated 10 Eklavya Model Residential Schools and 300 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras to promote entrepreneurship and improve livelihoods. He also inaugurated two Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museums in Chhindwara and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, and two Tribal Research Institutes in Srinagar and Gangtok to document and preserve the history of tribal communities.
Modi laid the foundation stones for 500 km of new roads and 100 multi-purpose centres to serve as community hubs in tribal areas. He also laid the foundation stones of 25,000 new houses under PM-JANMAN, 1.16 lakh houses under DAJGUA, and 370 hostels for tribal students.
During his speech, Modi emphasized the significant contribution of tribal populations to India’s freedom struggle and history. He highlighted the NDA government’s commitment to tribal welfare, stating that the budget for tribal welfare has been increased fivefold.
This is Modi’s second visit to Bihar in the past three days. On November 13, he laid the foundation stone for an AIIMS hospital and inaugurated several other projects in Darbhanga.
