Fri Nov 15 07:30:00 IST 2024: ## Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Volleyball Honors, Basketball Back in Action, and Football Changes

**Lincoln, NE** – Nebraska Cornhuskers athletics continue to make headlines across multiple sports. Volleyball libero Lexi Rodriguez received the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week award after leading the Huskers to road sweeps over No. 12 Oregon and Washington. Rodriguez’s impressive performance also helped her surpass Kayla Banwarth for second all-time in career digs at Nebraska.

The women’s basketball team is back in action tonight, hosting Southern at 7 p.m. CST. The Huskers, currently ranked No. 21 in the AP poll, are looking to extend their winning streak to three games.

Nebraska baseball has learned its opponents for the 2025 MLB Desert Invitational. The Huskers will open their season against UC Irvine on Feb. 14, followed by games against Vanderbilt and San Diego State over the next two days.

Football coach Matt Rhule announced that Dana Holgorsen will take over as offensive coordinator and play caller for the remainder of the season. Rhule emphasized that this change doesn’t represent a shift in his offensive philosophy.

In other news, the Nebraska wrestling team remains at No. 3 in both the tournament and dual rankings, behind Penn State and Iowa.

With the Huskers struggling on offense this season, analyst Erin Sorensen pointed out that Nebraska would have been bowl eligible every year since 2017 if they had scored just 15 more points per game in November.
