Fri Nov 15 14:09:04 UTC 2024: ## X Removes Graphic Video of Dehradun Car Accident, Citing Gore Policy
**Dehradun, India -** Social media platform X, formerly Twitter, has removed a video depicting the horrific car accident in Dehradun that claimed the lives of six young people. The platform cited violation of its content rules against “gratuitous gore” as the reason for removing the video, which was originally shared by a user named Chauhan.
The video, which showed the aftermath of the accident, was uncensored and included graphic images of the victims. While Chauhan subsequently apologized for not blurring the video or adding a trigger warning, he stated he had received the video from X itself.
The accident occurred on November 11th when a speeding vehicle carrying seven young adults collided with a container truck near the ONGC Chowk in Dehradun. Three women, aged 19 to 24, and three men were killed in the crash. The only survivor, Siddhesh Agarwal, remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Despite X’s removal of the uncensored video, versions of the accident footage continue to circulate on the platform, albeit with some blurring to obscure the most graphic content. X’s notification stated that sharing graphic media depicting severe injuries or torture is prohibited due to the potential harm it can cause, especially when intended for sadistic pleasure.
This incident highlights the ongoing debate regarding the sharing of graphic content online and the importance of platform policies in mitigating the spread of disturbing images, particularly in cases of tragic events.
