Fri Nov 15 17:45:37 IST 2024: ## Delhi Lights Up Yamuna Bank with 3.5 Lakh Diyas for Dilli Deepotsav
**New Delhi, India** – The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Wednesday hosted a spectacular “Dilli Deepotsav” on the banks of the Yamuna River, illuminating Vasudev Ghat with a record-breaking 3.5 lakh diyas. The event served as a grand celebration marking the upcoming Dev Deepawali, Guru Purab, and the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda.
The inaugural event, the first of its kind, saw the presence of numerous dignitaries, with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena gracing the occasion as the chief guest. Emphasizing the symbolic importance of the Yamuna to Delhi’s identity, Saxena performed the Yamuna Aarti, highlighting the collective responsibility to maintain the river’s cleanliness.
The celebration was a testament to the DDA’s efforts in transforming the once garbage-laden Vasudev Ghat into a beautiful site for the festival. The evening was further enhanced by a spectacular drone and laser show, along with the lighting of diyas by members from various communities.
Saxena expressed his hope that the Dilli Deepotsav would grow in scale and significance, eventually becoming as famed as Ayodhya’s Diwali celebrations.
