Fri Nov 15 14:44:38 UTC 2024: ## APSRTC Employees to Protest for Two Days Over Unresolved Issues
**VIJAYAWADA:** The Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (APPTD-APSRTC) Employees Union is set to stage a two-day protest on November 19 and 20 across all depots in the state. The union is demanding immediate action from management to address their longstanding concerns.
Union president P. Damodara Rao, in a representation to the APSRTC Executive Director (Administration) on Friday, stated that employees will wear red badges and hold gate meetings during lunch breaks on the protest days. These actions are intended to express their dissatisfaction with the management’s “failure to heed their repeated pleas” for resolution.
Rao highlighted the unrest among employees due to the inordinate delay in addressing their concerns. He alleged that employees are facing harassment and unfair punishments from depot managers and supervisors. Despite repeated attempts to bring these issues to the attention of officials at various levels, the union’s appeals have been ignored.
Rao further accused some lower-level officials of “high-handed behavior,” disregarding representations made by recognized union leaders. The union’s executive committee, meeting on November 6th, discussed employee issues and resolved to exert pressure on officials for a resolution. Despite apprising the corporation’s Managing Director of their concerns on November 7th, their plea for intervention went unanswered.
The union is urging the APSRTC management to address the pending employee issues without further delay. The protest action is a clear indication of the growing frustration and discontent among APSRTC employees.
