Thu Nov 14 10:25:38 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Cricket Legend Calls for Boycott of India in All Tournaments

**New Delhi, November 13, 2024:** Former Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Rashid Latif has ignited a firestorm of controversy by calling for a complete boycott of India in all cricket tournaments, including the upcoming Champions Trophy. Latif, known for his outspoken views, believes the persistent tension between India and Pakistan has reached a breaking point.

Latif’s call to action stems from the ongoing saga surrounding the Champions Trophy, where India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the tournament has raised concerns about the event’s feasibility. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested written confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding India’s inability to travel.

“If I had the power, I would not let Pakistan play against India in any tournament,” Latif told PTI Videos. “I wouldn’t blame anyone for this. If you don’t want to play in Pakistan, then don’t play against us at all.”

Latif’s strong stance extends beyond the Champions Trophy, advocating for a complete separation of the two cricketing nations. He believes the International Cricket Council (ICC) should suspend both countries’ hosting rights for major tournaments until the political issues are resolved.

“The ICC should withhold the hosting rights for both countries until these issues are resolved. Until their problems are settled,” Latif added, echoing a sentiment shared by many Pakistani cricket enthusiasts.

Latif’s criticism further escalates tensions, directly targeting the BCCI’s rationale for security concerns in Pakistan. He argues that the ICC security team has deemed the country safe for the tournament, accusing the BCCI of using security as a pretext. “This is the first time, I would say, the BCCI is at fault,” Latif said. “If you had issues, you could have reported them to the ICC security team.”

Latif’s comments are sure to spark fierce debate in both India and Pakistan. While he believes a boycott will not hamper Pakistan’s cricketing progress, his bold call raises questions about the future of Indo-Pak cricket relations and the role of the ICC in managing these escalating tensions.
