Wed Nov 13 12:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Packers Rookie Running Back MarShawn Lloyd Cleared to Return, Could Face Bears This Week

**GREEN BAY, WI -** The Green Bay Packers are getting a boost to their running back corps, as rookie MarShawn Lloyd has been cleared to return from injured reserve. The team designated him for return on Monday, opening a 21-day practice window and giving Lloyd a chance to rejoin the active roster before Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Lloyd, a third-round pick out of USC, suffered an ankle injury in Week 2 and has been sidelined since. While he only had a limited role in his first game, his explosive running style and receiving potential make him a valuable asset.

The Packers currently have Josh Jacobs established as the starter, with Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks filling backup roles. However, with an open roster spot following the trade of Preston Smith, Lloyd could quickly earn playing time.

General manager Brian Gutekunst had hinted at Lloyd’s potential return last week, suggesting he could fill Smith’s vacated spot. With a 21-day window now open, Lloyd has until December 2nd to be activated to the 53-man roster.

His return provides another offensive weapon for a Packers team looking to turn things around in the latter half of the 2024 season.
