**Chennai, November 14, 2024:** A 35-year-old man, identified as R. Anbu Giri, was arrested by the Virugambakkam police on Wednesday for attempting to smuggle methamphetamine into the city.
Anbu Giri, a resident of Diaz Colony in Royapettah, contacted a person in Bengaluru and had them send the drug to his friend’s residence in Saligramam via courier. The Virugambakkam police received a tip-off about the suspicious package and intercepted it upon delivery.
Anbu Giri was apprehended at the Saligramam address and found in possession of the package, which contained 3.5 grams of methamphetamine. The police have seized the drug and are currently investigating the source of the narcotics and the extent of Anbu Giri’s involvement in the smuggling operation.
