**Chennai, India** – A government oncologist was critically injured after being stabbed seven times by a young man at the Kalaignar Centenary Hospital on Wednesday morning. The attack, which took place in the outpatient department (OPD), was allegedly triggered by the attacker’s belief that the doctor had prescribed incorrect medication for his mother, a cancer patient.
The victim, a heart patient himself, suffered injuries to his upper chest. He is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) but is reported to be in stable condition.
The attacker, identified as a 26-year-old man, posed as an employee of the hospital to gain access. He attempted to flee after the stabbing but was apprehended by hospital staff and handed over to the Guindy Police Station.
The incident has shocked the city and raised concerns about the safety of healthcare professionals. Police are investigating the case further to determine the exact circumstances leading to the attack.
