**Bengaluru, November 13, 2024** – The Karnataka Forest Department has filed an FIR against the producers of the Yash-starring film “Toxic”, along with executives from Canara Bank and Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), for allegedly cutting down trees illegally on forest land in Peenya.
The FIR was filed based on court orders and follows an investigation by the Forest Department. Satellite imagery confirmed that trees were illegally felled during the construction of a film set on land belonging to HMT, which was leased to Canara Bank.
Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre, who inspected the site, stated that more than 280 acres of forest land owned by HMT and the Air Force remain in the area. He expressed confidence in a favorable ruling by the court and highlighted plans to develop a botanical garden akin to Lalbagh and Cubbon Park in the region.
Minister Khandre also addressed the recent statements made by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar regarding potential changes to night traffic restrictions in Bandipur. Khandre emphasized that the matter is subject to existing court rulings and will be further discussed with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
