**KANNUR:** CPI(M) Kerala State Secretary M.V. Govindan has publicly voiced support for party leader E.P. Jayarajan in the wake of a controversy surrounding his alleged autobiography. While confirming the autobiography remains unfinished, Mr. Govindan refuted reports from the book as “incorrect” and attributed them to “election-driven sensationalism.”
Mr. Govindan further asserted that the party does not require prior permission for members to write books, but encouraged consultation before publication. He dismissed speculations of a political conspiracy surrounding the book as “media concerns” and suggested that commercial interests may be at play.
Despite acknowledging that party approval is not mandatory for writing a book, Mr. Govindan agreed with Mr. Jayarajan’s stance on taking legal action if necessary, calling the controversy a “media conspiracy against the party.”
Meanwhile, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president K. Sudhakaran has speculated that Mr. Jayarajan may be moving towards the BJP following the controversy, criticizing the CPI(M) for facing the “consequences of their actions.” He dismissed Mr. Jayarajan’s claim of ignorance about the book’s publication as “nonsense,” highlighting the reputation of the publisher DC Books.
Mr. Sudhakaran further suggested that the controversy could have significant repercussions in the state’s political landscape during the ongoing bypolls.
