Mon Nov 11 15:42:18 UTC 2024: ## Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin Accepts AIADMK Leader’s Challenge, Launches Sports Infrastructure Projects
**Chennai, November 11, 2024:** Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has accepted AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s challenge to list the achievements and welfare programs of the DMK government. Responding to a query, Mr. Stalin stated he would take up the challenge had it been issued to him directly.
Mr. Stalin also addressed criticism from Mr. Palaniswami regarding the naming of several schemes and projects after late DMK leader and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, stating that “Who else should they be named after then?” He acknowledged the possibility of criticism but defended the choice, emphasizing the appropriateness of honoring the late leader.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Stalin virtually laid the foundation stone for a ₹6 crore sports academy in Madurai, dedicated to training athletes for the Olympics and other sporting events. He also inaugurated the construction of an integrated sports complex in Ranipet district, costing ₹15 crore.
Furthermore, Mr. Stalin launched the distribution of ‘Champions Kits’ to athletes training in hostels managed by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.
