**HYDERABAD, INDIA -** Following an attack on Vikarabad district officials on Monday, police have taken 57 individuals into custody, including Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party workers and farmers. The incident occurred in Lagacharla village during a public hearing for a proposed pharmaceutical plant.

The officials, including Vikarabad District Collector Prateek Jain and Additional Collector G. Lingya Naik, were confronted by an angry mob who objected to the loss of their land for the plant. The mob, estimated at 150-200 people, attacked the officials, leaving KADA chairman Venkat Reddy and Additional Collector Lingya Naik injured.

The police have confirmed that 57 individuals have been arrested and are being held in judicial custody. They are currently investigating the role of each individual and collecting photographic evidence. Internet access in the area has been shut down to control the situation.

BRS leaders, including working president K.T. Rama Rao and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao, condemned the arrests and demanded the immediate release of the detained individuals. They asserted that the arrests will not deter the farmers’ fight for their livelihood and that they cannot be silenced by police threats.

The police have formed four special teams to investigate the attack and three cases have been registered. The investigation continues to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the incident.
