Mon Nov 11 23:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Former Theodore Football Player Dies in Mississippi Car Crash
**MOBILE, Ala.** – The community is mourning the loss of Ryan Quinney, a former Theodore High School football player, who died in a car crash in Mississippi on Friday night. The 20-year-old was a passenger in a vehicle being pursued by Mississippi Highway Patrol when the driver lost control, leading to a fatal accident.
According to Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers, the driver of the car, one of Quinney’s fraternity brothers, was attempting to evade a traffic stop for speeding. The car ultimately crashed into a ditch, struck a parked vehicle, and became airborne before coming to rest in a yard on Talbert Drive. Quinney was pronounced dead at the scene.
Anthony Cox, Quinney’s stepfather, described the harrowing phone call he received from his son’s twin brother, Ryheem. “To hear that it’s your own child- first instinct is, I need to get to him and I need to get to him as quick as possible,” he said.
Cox revealed that the driver of the car is now paralyzed from the chest down. He has asked for prayers for the driver and especially for Ryheem, who was inseparable from his twin brother. “Loyal to each other– they weren’t identical twins, they were fraternal, but definitely loyal. They weren’t going to tell on each other,” Cox said.
Theodore High School released a statement on social media, expressing their condolences and highlighting Quinney’s positive impact on the school community. “It is with heavy hearts that we remember and honor the life of Ryan Quinney, a beloved former player of the Bobcats,” the statement read. “Ryan’s impact on and off the field will never be forgotten. His dedication, leadership, and love for the game inspired all who knew him. Rest in peace, Ryan. You will always be part of the Bobcat family.”
