**Erode, Tamil Nadu:** Doctors at the Thanthai Periyar Government Headquarters Hospital in Erode have successfully saved the lives of premature twins born at 27 weeks, who were battling respiratory complications.
The twins, born to Gomathi and Dhamodaran from Paramathi Velur Taluk in Namakkal district, weighed just 940 grams and 680 grams respectively. They were admitted to the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on September 4 after experiencing breathing difficulties due to their prematurity.
Doctors closely monitored the babies in specialized incubators, providing respiratory support and tailored treatment. After 69 days of intensive care, the twins, now weighing 1.7 kg and 1.05 kg, were discharged on November 11 along with their mother.
Gomathi expressed her gratitude to the hospital staff for their exceptional care, highlighting the affordable treatment provided by the government facility. The family was unable to afford the high costs of private hospitals.
