Tue Nov 12 02:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Country Music Superstars Team Up for New Singing Competition on CBS

Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan, two titans of entertainment, are joining forces to bring a unique singing competition to CBS. Titled “The Road,” the series will launch in Fall 2025 and follows a headlining country music superstar as they search for the next big talent.

The show’s format will see aspiring singers joining the headliner on tour, performing as opening acts in venues across the country. These up-and-coming artists will compete to win over local audiences, vying for a spot in the next city and a chance to stay on the tour. The identity of the headlining superstar remains under wraps.

“The Road” promises an intimate look at the music industry, offering viewers a glimpse into the grueling schedule and behind-the-scenes challenges faced by aspiring musicians. Producers include MTV Entertainment Studios, David Glasser’s 101 Studios, and Lucky Horseshoe Productions, the production company founded by Shelton and Lee Metzger.

This marks CBS’s first foray into singing competitions in a while, a departure from their usual reality programming that focuses on adventure and competition. Both Shelton and Sheridan have experience in reality television, with Shelton having judged on shows like “Nashville Star,” “Clash of the Choirs,” and “The Voice,” while Sheridan created the docuseries “The Last Cowboy.”

“I’m excited to team with [Sheridan] and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on ‘The Road,'” said Shelton. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”

Sheridan added, “There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture.” He stressed the authenticity of the show: “No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road – literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd.”

With the star power of Shelton and Sheridan behind it, “The Road” promises to be a captivating and authentic look at the world of country music, bringing a fresh perspective to the singing competition genre.
