Tue Nov 12 03:25:48 UTC 2024: ## Afghanistan Clinch Series Win Against Bangladesh with Thrilling Five-Wicket Victory

**Sharjah, UAE:** Afghanistan secured a dramatic 2-1 series victory over Bangladesh in the third and final ODI at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday. Chasing a target of 245 runs, Afghanistan showcased a resilient batting display, led by Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s century (101 runs) and Azmatullah Omarzai’s unbeaten 70 runs.

The duo steered Afghanistan from a precarious 84/3 to 184/4, laying the foundation for a thrilling finish. Omarzai, who had also taken four wickets in Bangladesh’s innings, proved to be the ultimate match-winner, holding his nerve to see Afghanistan home.

Earlier, Bangladesh had battled back from a shaky start thanks to a brilliant 98-run knock from Mahmudullah and a gritty 66 from captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz. They lifted Bangladesh from the brink, helping them post a respectable 244/8. Omarzai was the pick of the bowlers for Afghanistan, claiming four wickets.

Bangladesh, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, had lost the first ODI by 92 runs but bounced back strongly in the second with a 68-run triumph. The series was locked at 1-1 going into the final encounter, making it a nail-biting affair.

Afghanistan’s victory was made even sweeter by the fact that they won despite losing their in-form batter, Gurbaz, just after he reached his century. Omarzai, however, remained unflappable, showcasing remarkable composure and determination to seal the series for his team.

With this win, Afghanistan have further cemented their position as a force to be reckoned with in international cricket, while Bangladesh will be looking to learn from this series and bounce back stronger in future encounters.
