Sun Nov 10 13:21:44 UTC 2024: ## Kremlin Sees “Positive Signals” from Trump on Ukraine, But Remains Cautious

**MOSCOW** – The Kremlin has expressed optimism about incoming US President Donald Trump’s stance on Ukraine, citing his focus on negotiation and deal-making as a positive sign. However, Russian officials have cautioned that it is difficult to predict how Trump will act once in office.

“The signals are positive,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told state media on Sunday. “Trump, during his election, talked about how he perceives everything through deals, that he can make a deal that can lead to peace.”

Despite this optimism, Peskov acknowledged that it remains unclear how closely Trump will adhere to his campaign promises. “It is hard to predict to what extent he’s going to stick to statements that he made on the campaign trail,” Peskov stated.

Trump’s position on Ukraine has been a source of speculation since his election victory. He has previously expressed admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and his campaign rhetoric has indicated a willingness to improve US-Russia relations, potentially at the expense of US support for Ukraine.

The Kremlin’s cautious optimism suggests that Russian officials are hoping for a more cooperative relationship with the United States under Trump’s leadership. However, the Kremlin’s comments also underscore the uncertainty surrounding Trump’s foreign policy and his intentions towards Ukraine.
