Sun Nov 10 23:34:21 UTC 2024: ## Israeli Strikes Kill Dozens in Lebanon and Gaza Amid US Pressure for Aid Delivery

**BEIRUT/GAZA CITY** – Israeli airstrikes killed dozens of people in Lebanon and Gaza on Sunday, according to rescue workers and authorities. The strikes come as a US deadline for Israel to improve aid delivery to Gaza looms, with Washington threatening to cut military assistance.

In Gaza, 30 people, including 13 children, were killed by Israeli strikes in the northern part of the territory. The most devastating strike hit a house in Jabalia, killing at least 25 people and injuring over 30, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency.

Israel’s military claimed the strikes targeted infrastructure used by militants, but the United Nations has described the area as under siege and warned of an imminent famine.

In Lebanon, an Israeli strike on Almat village north of Beirut killed 23 people, including seven children. Hezbollah, which has a strong presence in the area, denied Israeli allegations that they were embedded among civilians.

Another strike south of Damascus killed nine people, including a Hezbollah commander, according to a war monitor. Iran condemned the strike, calling for an arms embargo on Israel and its expulsion from the UN.

The Israeli strikes come after Israel admitted for the first time to being behind a wave of deadly attacks on Hezbollah communication devices in September, which resulted in nearly 40 deaths and 3,000 injuries.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza began with Hamas’s October 7 attack on southern Israel, which resulted in 1,206 Israeli deaths, mostly civilians. Israel’s retaliatory campaign has killed 43,603 people in Gaza, according to figures from the Hamas-run territory’s health ministry.

The United States has issued a deadline for Israel to improve aid delivery to Gaza by Wednesday, otherwise facing possible cuts to its military assistance.

Germany, the United Nations, and Arab and Muslim leaders have all called for increased humanitarian access to Gaza.

With the war in Gaza and Lebanon showing no signs of abating, the international community faces growing pressure to find a solution to the ongoing conflict.
