Mon Nov 11 05:44:06 UTC 2024: ## South Africa Edges Past India by 3 Wickets in Thrilling T20 Match

**Johannesburg, South Africa:** South Africa pulled off a stunning victory in the second T20 International against India, defeating the visitors by 3 wickets in a nail-biting finish. Despite India posting a modest 124 runs, South Africa’s chase was far from smooth sailing.

India, who batted first after losing the toss, found themselves struggling early on. They lost three wickets in the powerplay and could only manage 34 runs in the first 6 overs. Sanju Samson failed to open his account, while Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav departed for just 4 runs each.

Hardik Pandya (39), Axar Patel (27), and Tilak Varma (20) offered some resistance, but India’s batting lineup failed to fire collectively. The team eventually finished their innings on 124 runs, losing 6 wickets in the process.

The South African chase got off to a decent start, but a spectacular spell by Varun Chakravarthy sent shockwaves through the hosts. Chakravarthy, who picked up 5 wickets in a single spell, reduced South Africa to 66/6.

The match seemed destined for an Indian victory, however, Tristan Stubbs, who scored 47 runs, held one end up, and then a crucial partnership of 42 runs in just 20 balls between Stubbs and Gerald Coetzee, who smashed 19 runs off just 9 deliveries, turned the tide. The duo’s final partnership secured victory for South Africa in the 19th over.

Stubbs, who was named Player of the Match for his match-winning innings, and Coetzee’s contribution proved to be the game-changing moments. The Indian bowlers, especially the spinners, were unable to contain the late onslaught, which ultimately decided the match.

This victory gives South Africa a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The deciding match is scheduled for Tuesday.
