Sat Nov 09 19:09:02 UTC 2024: ## India Wins First T20I Against South Africa, But Heated Argument Mars Victory
**Durban, South Africa:** Team India took a commanding 1-0 lead in the four-match T20I series against South Africa, securing a 61-run victory in the first match played in Durban on Friday. However, the match was marred by a heated argument between Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and South African player Marco Jansen.
The altercation occurred during the 15th over of South Africa’s innings. Sanju Samson, who had scored a brilliant century in the first innings, mistakenly entered the ‘danger zone’ while trying to field a throw. Jansen expressed his displeasure at Samson’s action, leading to a verbal exchange between the two players.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav stepped in to defend his teammate, leading to an intense argument with Jansen. The leg umpire intervened to calm the situation, which saw an uncharacteristically angry Suryakumar explaining something to Gerald Coetzee.
Despite the heated incident, India emerged victorious thanks to Samson’s spectacular innings of 107 runs, his second consecutive T20I century. Tilak Verma also contributed with 33 runs.
South Africa’s chase was hampered by a lack of consistent batting, with no player reaching the 30-run mark. Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakraborty were the pick of the bowlers for India, taking three wickets each.
Samson was named Player of the Match for his match-winning performance. The second match of the series will take place in Gqeberha on November 10.
