**Thiruvananthapuram, November 9, 2024:** A 120-year-old mansion in Thiruvananthapuram, once a popular hangout for film stars in the 1970s and 80s, has been reborn as a heritage hotel. The Essenden Bungalow, originally the home of Portuguese citizen Eunice Gomez and her husband T. Shivaramasethu Pillai, was transformed into Hotel Amritha in the 1950s. It was a favored gathering place for film personalities when the capital city was a hub of the film industry.
Now, the building has been meticulously renovated and re-branded as Amritha Heritage, with tasteful landscaping enhancing the charming eave-roofed heritage building. The single-storey structure located in Thycaud showcases a blend of Portuguese and Travancore architectural styles.
Union Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi will officially inaugurate the heritage hotel at a function on November 11th at 10:30 a.m.
