**VIZIANAGARAM, Andhra Pradesh -** Sambangi Venkata China Appala Naidu, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) candidate for the Vizianagaram local body MLC seat, is poised to win the election unopposed. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has reportedly decided to abstain from the election due to a lack of majority and ongoing legal issues surrounding disqualified MLC Indukuri Raghuraju.
Naidu is expected to file his nomination on Monday, the last day for filing nominations. If he is the only valid candidate, he will be declared elected unanimously.
The YSRCP enjoys a strong position in the constituency, with over 500 votes out of 727. The voters include ZPTC and MPTC members, municipal councillors, and corporators of Vizianagaram Municipal Corporation.
While the TDP initially considered fielding Vasant Vihar Group chairman Valluri Jayaprakash Babu, they ultimately decided against contesting due to the YSRCP’s overwhelming support. Despite the TDP’s general election defeat five months ago, the YSRCP has retained the majority of ZPTC and MPTC members.
The election is scheduled for November 28, with counting scheduled for December 1. However, if the TDP does not field a candidate, Naidu will be declared elected unopposed.
