**New Delhi, November 10, 2024** – The Delhi Police apprehended three juveniles on Saturday for their involvement in two separate shooting incidents in the city’s Welcome area, resulting in one fatality and another injured.
According to police sources, the accused first shot a man in Kabir Nagar around 1 a.m. before fleeing with his scooter. They then proceeded to Jyoti Nagar where they fired gunshots at a house. Police recovered three empty cartridges and a motorcycle left behind by the suspects.
The investigation revealed that the motorcycle belonged to the accused, who abandoned it and fled with the victim’s scooter.
The second incident occurred just minutes later when police received a call about shots being fired by three individuals on a scooter in Jyoti Nagar. The police swiftly apprehended the three minors, who are believed to be responsible for both shootings.
A financial dispute is suspected to be the motive behind the incidents.
The arrests sparked a political clash, with Delhi Health Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj criticizing the Lieutenant-Governor over the city’s deteriorating law and order situation. He stated that residents are living in fear with gangs openly extorting money and firing at businesses, highlighting a mockery of law and order.
In response, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor countered that the recent crimes in the city stemmed from personal enmity, not extortion. He praised the Delhi Police for their high crime detection rate, citing the swift arrest of the suspects involved in the shootings.
The incidents have once again raised concerns about the safety and security of Delhi residents, bringing the city’s law and order situation under the spotlight.
