Sat Nov 09 19:57:24 UTC 2024: ## Real Madrid’s Militao Suffers Second ACL Tear in Two Seasons
**Madrid, Spain:** Real Madrid defender Eder Militao has suffered a second anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in two seasons, a devastating blow for the Brazilian international and the club.
The 26-year-old was stretchered off the field after just 30 minutes of Real Madrid’s clash with Osasuna on Saturday, following an apparent injury after his studs got caught in the turf. Initial fears were confirmed by the club, who revealed Militao had ruptured his ACL in his right knee and also suffered meniscus damage. He will undergo surgery in the coming days, with a recovery period of at least nine months expected.
This injury mirrors a similar one suffered by Militao in the opening game of last season, where he ruptured the ACL in his left knee. He missed a significant portion of the season before returning in March.
The injury adds to a growing list of injury woes for Real Madrid, with Rodrygo (quad) and Lucas Vazquez (hip) also forced off during the match. While the severity of their injuries remains unclear, both players are expected to be sidelined for a period.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed concern about the injury pile-up, highlighting the demanding schedule as a potential contributing factor. “It’s quite rare,” he said. “The demands of this schedule don’t allow the players to get enough rest. They arrive at the games more tired and the risk of injury is higher… For everyone, not just us.”
Despite the injuries, Real Madrid managed to secure a comfortable 4-0 victory over Osasuna thanks to a hat-trick from Vinicius Junior and a goal from Jude Bellingham. The club will next be in action following the international break, facing Leganes on November 24.
Militao’s injury is a major blow for Real Madrid, who have already lost Dani Carvajal to an ACL injury earlier this season. His absence will be keenly felt, as he has been a key player for the club since his arrival from Porto in 2019.
