Sat Nov 09 18:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Ohio State Freshman Jeremiah Smith Shatters Records, Sets New Standard for Buckeye Receivers

**COLUMBUS, OHIO** – Ohio State freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith continued his meteoric rise on Saturday, breaking three school records in a single game against Purdue.

Smith’s 17-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter broke Cris Carter’s legendary freshman receiving touchdown record, marking his ninth score of the season.

Smith’s dominance extends beyond a single game, as he has been a record-breaking machine since joining the Buckeyes. He notched a touchdown in each of his first seven games, a record that was only broken last week against Penn State. He also surpassed Carter’s freshman receiving yardage record in that game.

On Saturday, Smith added to his accolades by breaking the freshman receptions record with his 42nd catch of the season in the first quarter.

Smith’s impressive performance extends beyond the regular season. He became the earliest ever freshman to have his black stripe removed and was the first freshman to be named an Iron Buckeye by the team’s strength and conditioning staff.

Smith currently leads Ohio State in receiving yards and touchdowns. His record-breaking catch against Purdue put the Buckeyes up 21-0 with 27 seconds remaining in the first half.

Smith’s remarkable achievements have solidified his status as a star in the making. He has established a new standard for freshman receivers at Ohio State and is poised to become a key contributor for the Buckeyes for years to come.
