**Chennai, November 10, 2024:** The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in Chennai hosted a successful “Run For Quality-Manak Mahotsav” on Sunday, aimed at raising awareness about its consumer protection schemes. The event, held at the Olcott Memorial Higher Secondary School in Besant Nagar, saw a participation of over 1,000 runners.

Indian Chess Grandmaster Arjun Kalyan flagged off the 5-km run, signifying the importance of quality standards in everyday life. The event focused on promoting BIS schemes such as product certification (ISI mark), management systems certification, hall marking of gold and silver jewellery/artefacts, and laboratory services.

G. Bhavani, Senior Director and Head of the Chennai branch office, was also present at the event. The initiative was part of a larger campaign to mark World Standards Day, observed annually on October 14th. The BIS, Chennai, conducted various programs in October throughout Chennai, Puducherry, and Vellore to educate the public about quality assurance programs and their importance.
