Sun Nov 10 15:08:09 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Clinches First ODI Series Win in Australia Since 2002

Perth, Australia – Pakistan secured a resounding eight-wicket victory in the third and final ODI against Australia on Sunday, marking their first ODI series win in the country since 2002. The victory came on the back of a dominant bowling performance that saw Australia bowled out for a paltry 140 runs.

The Pakistani bowlers, led by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, who picked up three wickets each, wreaked havoc on the Australian batting line-up. The hosts were left reeling at 79-5 after losing wickets in quick succession. Sean Abbott top-scored with 30 runs for Australia, while Josh Inglis, making his captaincy debut, could only muster 7 runs.

In reply, Pakistan openers Saim Ayub (42) and Abdullah Shafique (37) set the tone with a fluent 84-run partnership. Although Lance Morris dismissed both batsmen in the 18th over, Mohammad Rizwan (30 not out) and Babar Azam (28 not out) steered Pakistan home comfortably with 26.5 overs to spare.

Australia, preparing for the upcoming Test series against India, had chosen to rest their key red-ball players for the ODI series decider. The absence of their frontline batsmen proved costly as Pakistan celebrated their dominant victory.

“It was a great feeling for us as a country, as a nation,” said Shaheen Afridi, emphasizing the significance of the win.

The two teams will now meet in a three-match T20I series beginning in Brisbane on Thursday.
