Sat Nov 09 15:29:09 UTC 2024: ## BRS Leader Accuses Telangana Government of Failing Farmers on Paddy Procurement

**HYDERABAD, November 9, 2024** – Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has accused the Telangana government of failing to procure paddy from farmers in a timely manner, alleging that only a small amount of the grain has been purchased even a month after procurement began.

Speaking at a farmers’ protest in Medak district on Saturday, Rao criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s claims of a successful crop loan waiver, calling it a “betrayal.” He pointed to the lack of focus on paddy purchases despite untimely rains damaging the harvested crop. This forced farmers to sell their produce to traders at significantly lower prices than the minimum support price, with approximately 30% of the paddy already being purchased by traders.

Rao contrasted the current situation with the BRS government’s pro-farmer policies, including schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima, which he said were implemented without pre-election promises or demands from farmers. He further accused Reddy of “deceiving gods” by vowing on farm loan waiver and then misleading Maharashtra residents about the fulfillment of promises made in Telangana.
