**Hyderabad, India:** Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reversed the name change of the Yadadri temple, reverting it back to Yadagiri, in a move that marks a departure from the policies of his predecessor, K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
During a visit to the temple on Friday, Reddy also directed officials to form a Yadagirigutta Temple Board, mirroring the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) that manages the famed Sri Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh. This board will be responsible for overseeing the temple’s affairs.
The decision to reinstate the original name and establish a dedicated board comes as part of a larger plan to further enhance the temple’s development. Reddy also emphasized the need to complete pending renovation works, including the gold plating of the Vimana Gopuram, which is scheduled to be completed by the Brahmotsavam.
The temple, popular as Telangana’s Tirumala, underwent a massive renovation project costing Rs 1,800 crore under the previous government. This project included the expansion of the temple complex and infrastructure, aimed at accommodating more devotees.
Reddy also expressed concern for the protection of cows and directed officials to implement a policy that utilizes technology to ensure their well-being. Additionally, he ordered officials to provide better facilities for devotees, including overnight accommodation options near the temple.
The Chief Minister’s decision has sparked discussions about the future of the temple and its management. It remains to be seen how the newly formed board will function and the impact of the name change on the temple’s identity.
