**Lake Placid, Florida** – A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supervisor, Marn’i Washington, has been accused of directing workers to avoid homes displaying signs supporting President-elect Donald Trump during relief efforts following Hurricane Milton. The incident has sparked outrage and prompted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to launch an investigation.
According to reports, Washington instructed her team to “avoid homes advertising Trump” in a memo and a Microsoft Teams chat, leading to the neglect of as many as 20 homes displaying Trump signs between October and November.
“I thought we could go help and make a difference. When we got there we were told to discriminate against people,” one worker told the Daily Wire. “It’s almost unbelievable to think that somebody in the federal government would think that’s okay.”
Governor DeSantis condemned the alleged act as “blatant weaponization of government by partisan activists,” tweeting, “At my direction, the Division of Emergency Management is launching an investigation into the federal government’s targeted discrimination of Floridians who support Donald Trump.”
DeSantis expressed optimism that the Biden-Harris administration, which he claims is in its “final days,” will remove these “partisan bureaucrats” following the upcoming election.
A FEMA official confirmed awareness of the incident and stated they are taking action, while Washington has been reassigned to a different Florida county.
Hurricane Milton, which ravaged the state in late October and early November, caused widespread damage and claimed the lives of at least 16 people. The hurricane brought torrential rainfall, flash flooding, and powerful tornadoes, leaving over three million Floridians without power.
The incident comes as President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance have criticized the Biden-Harris administration for their handling of the hurricane response.
The investigation into FEMA’s actions is expected to be a high-profile event, potentially overshadowing the ongoing hurricane recovery efforts.
