Fri Nov 08 19:48:27 UTC 2024: ## Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to Undertake Musi River Revival Padayatra

**Hyderabad:** Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced his plan to embark on a padyatra, dubbed the “Musi Punarjeevana Sankalp Yatra,” starting from the first week of January. The padyatra will commence from Wadpalli, with the aim of bringing awareness to the plight of the Musi River and its impact on local livelihoods.

Reddy highlighted the severe pollution of the river, which has rendered agriculture in the area unproductive. He expressed his frustration with those obstructing the river’s revival, particularly targeting the ruling BRS party for hindering efforts. He lamented that no one purchases produce from the Musi basin due to its polluted state, even traditional local drinks are struggling to find buyers.

“Are there any fish surviving in the river?” he questioned, highlighting the dire state of the river. He further added that even sheep raised near the river’s banks are unsaleable.

To underscore his commitment to reviving the Musi, Reddy today initiated a symbolic “Sankalp Yatra” from Sangam in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The padyatra covered 2.5 km from the Sangam Low Level Bridge to the Dharmareddypalli canal. He then walked to the Musi Revival Sabha Sthali, where villagers described the problems caused by the river’s pollution.

Reddy, along with several Congress leaders including Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Konda Surekha participated in the padyatra.

Speaking at the event, CM Reddy vowed to take concrete action to revive the Musi, challenging those obstructing his efforts. He declared that if anyone truly believed in the river’s revival, they should present a date for him to commence the clean-up operation using bulldozers.

“I will personally lead the bulldozers and ensure the Musi is cleaned,” he declared.

In addition to the Musi revival initiative, Reddy held a review meeting on the development of Yadagirigutta Temple. He announced the renaming of the temple from Yadadri to Yadagirigutta and plans to establish a TTD-style temple board for its management.
