Fri Nov 08 11:13:53 UTC 2024: ## Yadagirigutta Temple to Reclaim Its Original Name
**HYDERABAD, INDIA -** In a move that has resonated with many Telanganans, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered the official restoration of the name “Yadagirigutta” for the iconic hill shrine, effective immediately. The temple, located in the Yadadri Bhongir district, had been renamed “Yadadri” in 2015 following the suggestion of Srimannarayana Chinna Jeer Swamy and the approval of then Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Despite the change, the local population continued to refer to the temple as “Yadagirigutta” or simply “Gutta.” Recognizing this deep-rooted connection and the historical significance of the name, Chief Minister Reddy has decided to revert to the original terminology. He believes “Yadagirigutta” embodies the spirit of Telangana more authentically than “Yadadri.”
The decision has been met with widespread approval, particularly in rural areas where children are still named “Yadagiri” in reverence of Lord Narasimha Swamy, the temple’s presiding deity. It remains to be seen whether the Chief Minister will also consider renaming the district “Yadagirigutta Bhuvanagiri,” which was originally formed as “Yadadri” before being renamed.
This move marks a significant step towards honoring the cultural heritage and popular sentiment associated with the temple, a cherished landmark for the people of Telangana.
