**Bridgetown, Barbados:** West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been suspended for two matches after a heated exchange with captain Shai Hope during Wednesday’s ODI victory over England. The incident occurred early in the match when Joseph, frustrated with the field placements, walked off the field and back to the dressing room, leaving his team momentarily short-handed.
Joseph expressed regret for his actions, acknowledging that “passion got the best of me.” He apologized to Hope, teammates, management, and West Indies fans.
West Indies coach Daren Sammy deemed Joseph’s conduct unacceptable, and CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe emphasized that such behavior “cannot be overlooked.”
The suspension means Joseph will miss the first two Twenty20 Internationals against England, with the series starting on Saturday at Kensington Oval.
