Fri Nov 08 10:37:32 UTC 2024: ## Fadnavis Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Seeking Support from ‘Urban Naxals’
**Nagpur, November 7, 2024:** Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of attempting to gain support from “urban Naxals and anarchists” by displaying a red copy of the Constitution during his rallies.
Fadnavis, speaking to reporters on Thursday, claimed that Gandhi’s actions, including his advocacy for a caste census, demonstrated his “inclination towards urban Naxals.” He further accused Gandhi of “insulting” the Constitution by carrying the red book.
Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, has been actively campaigning for a caste census, arguing that it will highlight the injustices faced by Dalits, OBCs, and Adivasis. He has been holding rallies across the country, often holding a copy of the abridged Constitution in a red cover.
Fadnavis, however, views this as a strategic move to garner support from “urban Naxals” and anarchists. He stated that Gandhi was either “giving them some warning” or seeking their help.
The BJP leader also accused the Congress of a history of disrespecting the Constitution and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. He believes that no one will be fooled by the Congress’s “drama.”
These allegations come ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls scheduled for November 20. With the campaign intensifying, the BJP appears to be using strong rhetoric to discredit the Congress and its leader.
