Fri Nov 08 11:06:02 UTC 2024: ## J&K Assembly Plunges into Chaos as MLAs Clash over Article 370
**Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir:** The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed another day of violent clashes on Friday, fueled by the ongoing debate over the restoration of Article 370. The heated exchange, which followed a similar brawl on Thursday, erupted after a PDP MLA displayed a banner advocating for the reinstatement of the special status for Jammu and Kashmir.
The chaos began when PDP MLA from Kupwara, displaying a banner in support of Article 370 restoration, sparked outrage among BJP MLAs. The BJP members responded by chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” slogans, leading to a full-blown brawl. To control the situation, Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather ordered the marshals to remove the BJP MLAs who had entered the well of the House.
The escalation of tensions stems from a resolution submitted by PDP MLA Waheed Para on Thursday, demanding a discussion on the abrogation of Article 370. Para, representing the Pulwama Assembly seat, argued that the resolution reflects the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and urged the Speaker to include it in the House agenda, despite it not being originally scheduled.
This resolution ignited a storm, with all 28 BJP MLAs standing in unison to oppose the move. The ensuing commotion and shouting match forced the Speaker to adjourn the House for the day. The ongoing debate over Article 370 continues to be a sensitive and divisive issue in Jammu and Kashmir, with the two opposing sides locked in a fierce battle of ideologies. The escalating tension within the assembly raises concerns about the ability of the House to function effectively and address crucial issues affecting the region.
