Fri Nov 08 17:44:46 UTC 2024: ## India Dominate First T20I Against South Africa in Durban

**Durban, South Africa:** India took control of the first T20I against South Africa, setting a daunting target of 203 runs before restricting the hosts to 3 wickets down in their chase.

The Indian innings was spearheaded by a blistering century from Sanju Samson, who smashed 107 runs off just 50 balls, including 7 fours and 10 sixes. Samson, who reached his fifty in 27 balls and century in 47, became the first Indian batter to score consecutive T20I centuries and only the fourth overall to achieve this feat.

The Proteas bowlers, despite a good spell by Gerald Coetzee (3 for 37), found it difficult to contain the aggressive Indian batting.

In response, South Africa’s chase got off to a shaky start with Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Varun Chakaravarthy picking up a wicket each to leave the home team struggling at 3 wickets down.

With a significant target to chase down, South Africa will need a strong comeback performance to level the series. The second T20I is scheduled for 2nd October in Durban.
