Fri Nov 08 15:37:51 UTC 2024: ## CM Revanth Reddy Embarks on Musi River Revival Padayatra
**Hyderabad, Telangana:** Telangana Chief Minister K. Revanth Reddy launched the “Musi Punarujjivana Sankalpa Padayatra” (Musi River Revival Pledge Foot March) today, aiming to raise awareness and promote the rejuvenation of the polluted Musi River. The padayatra commenced at Sangem in Valigonda Mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
CM Revanth Reddy offered prayers at the Bhima Lingam temple situated on the banks of the Musi River in Sangem. He is expected to walk for approximately 2.5 kilometers along the river, observing the extent of pollution firsthand. The padyatra will conclude at Nagireddipalli, where CM Revanth Reddy will address a public gathering in the evening. Several ministers and MLAs are accompanying him on this symbolic journey.
The Musi River has become a significant concern due to pollution, affecting the water supply and environment of not only Hyderabad but also the surrounding districts of Nalgonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Medchal Malkajgiri, Ranga Reddy, and Hyderabad. Various studies have highlighted the dangers posed by the polluted river. The Revanth Reddy-led government has pledged to restore the Musi’s glory and has undertaken various initiatives including cracking down on illegal structures along the riverbanks.
However, the CM’s efforts have been met with criticism from opposition parties, who claim the government’s actions are inadequate. Challenging the opposition, CM Revanth Reddy has dared them to spend at least two days living along the Musi River to understand the plight of the people affected by pollution. The opposition has counter-challenged the CM to stay along the river himself.
In response to the ongoing debate, CM Revanth Reddy chose to walk the talk and launched this padayatra on his birthday, symbolizing his commitment to the cause. The padayatra is currently underway and is expected to highlight the importance of reviving the Musi River.
