Fri Nov 08 17:45:08 UTC 2024: ## Sanju Samson Scripts History, Becomes First Indian to Score Back-to-Back T20 International Centuries

**JOHANNESBURG:** Sanju Samson etched his name in the history books of Indian T20 cricket, becoming the first Indian batter to score consecutive centuries in the format. He achieved this incredible feat during the second T20I against South Africa at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.

Samson, known for his explosive batting style, blazed his way to a career-best 107 off just 50 balls, adorned with seven boundaries and ten towering sixes. This knock also marked the completion of 7,000 runs in his T20 career.

His historic achievement comes after a blistering century against Bangladesh in the third T20I in Hyderabad earlier this month. He had hammered 111 off 47 balls in that match, his first T20I ton.

With these two centuries, Samson now sits joint-third on the list of most T20I centuries for India, sharing the spot with KL Rahul. Captain Rohit Sharma leads the charts with five centuries, followed by Suryakumar Yadav with four.

Samson’s blistering innings in Durban was a spectacle to behold. He set the tone early, smashing a boundary and a six off Keshav Maharaj in the third over. His half-century came off just 27 balls, showcasing his power-hitting prowess.

The Kerala batsman continued his assault, culminating in a remarkable century. He also stitched a valuable 66-run partnership with captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Samson made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2015. Although he has faced inconsistency in his career, his latest exploits solidify his position as a valuable asset to the Indian T20 team. He has amassed over 650 runs in 30 innings across 34 matches, with two centuries and two half-centuries.
